We're searching for Mid or Senior level Laravel Developers who are passionate about code, enjoy solving complex problems and are eager to learn. Your primary focus will be the development of all server-side logic, definition, and maintenance of the central database, and ensuring high performance and responsiveness to requests from the front-end. You will also be responsible for integrating the front-end elements built by your co-workers into the application. A basic understanding of front-end technologies is therefore necessary as well.

The role is working for a UK-based, well-established, multi-national Education company that specialises in education and training products/courses. You will be working normal office hours (minimum 40 hours a week) from your home as a remote working employee parallel to the UK office hours.

You will be working with.

PHP using the Laravel framework, MySQL, Elasticsearch, Git using CI/CD workflow, Microsoft Graph API integration, Amazon S3 storage.

Responsibilities:

• Working alongside frontend developers to create features for the company's web applications. You will take part in the entire feature lifecycle.
• Writing efficient, testable, and reusable PHP code using the Laravel framework
• Following (and contributing) to the best practices and standards for development on the website
• Debugging applications, monitoring, and fixing errors
• Optimising performance and solving complex architectural challenges
• Integrating MYSQL data storage solutions
• Integrating with 3rd parties via APIs
• Collaborating with developers, the testing team, and product managers
• Masterminding the architecture and infrastructure of the products (Senior)
• Providing code reviews, training, and giving feedback to other developers (Senior)

Skills and Qualifications:

• Commercial experience with PHP and modern web frameworks of Laravel: 4+ years of experience
• Proficient knowledge of other back-end programming languages and frameworks  
• BSc in Computer Science or related field OR able to show experience with working code examples
• Understanding of MVC design patterns
• Knowledge of object-oriented PHP programming
• Basic understanding of front-end technologies, such as JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3
• Creating database schemas that represent and support business processes
• Familiarity with SQL databases and their declarative query languages
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git
• Understanding fundamental design principles behind a scalable application
• Experience in working with WordPress and Bootstrap will be an advantage.
• Experience in working with Amazon AWS servers will be an advantage.
• Able to work independently and as a part of a collaborative team
• Able to plan, organise, and deliver own tasks
• Ability to recommend ideas, communicate effectively, problem-solve, and think creatively
